I had a good time. I didn't do much that was really homecoming related and I missed seeing more than half of the people I wanted to see. Sorry guys, as most of you are on the list of people I missed seeing.

I'm a jerk.

I did get to go back to the Nature Center and help out with their Autumn Celebration which was pretty cool. I always liked that place and kinda wish I still worked there. Yes I thought I wanted to be done with environmental education, but I think that was a dumb idea. I think I should have stayed. I would have made less money, but I know i would have been happier. I guess this way I have plenty of motivation to go back to school sooner, so it probably all works out.

Love and miss you all. Hope to see many of you in two weekends for laura salo awesome!

Ok, so I'm pretty sure it's national news, and there's people who will probably do a much better job of talking about it than I do but I just wanted to share my thought on this video and story about the bartender being beaten up by an off-duty police officer.

First I would like to point out that I am certainly a product of growing up smack in the middle of third-wave feminism. I learned at an early age to watch my surroundings and learned even more as a grew up, prop your hotel door and check to make sure there's no one in the room, carry your keys like a weapon after dark, never let your drunk friend go home with a cute random guy especially if no one can vouch for him. We've all been taught to avoid being a victim in so many ways.

The girl in the video is honestly just doing her job, trying to difuse an argument between two patrons and she gets beaten on. Now granted, she does get up and walk away, quite quickly, so she probably wasn't hurt that badly, but still it's different to know that it happens and to see it happen. I know that there are women who need emergency medical attention after encounters like this, so I guess she was lucky that people eventually said something about it and came to her defense. I also know that had she been a man the result would have been the same, this guy was going to beat on whoever looked at him funny. It just brings home the idea that I'm smaller than so many people out there, and so many of those people I've never met and can't vouch for their sanity.

It really upsets me, and makes me want to go to Tae Kwon Do class as quickly as I possibly can!

If you haven't seen the full video you can see it here:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-070322bartender-beaten,1,3542619.story?coll=chi-news-hed

So I went to my interview today, and it didn't suck. In fact I think I did very well. Unfortunately, I'm not sure the job is what I want or need, so that kinda sucks. But I have another interview next week, and hopefully will be recieving a phonecall about another interview by the end of this week. So that's all good news I guess... yay!

Um, that's pretty much it I think.

'Night!

Dude, my roomate totally got engaged tonight. And since we've lived together for four years and she's basically my best friend, I have to be her maid of honor.

I am totally not mature enough for this shit... I don't wanna grow up, or see my friends doing grown up things... booo

although I am very happy for her, so YAY MELISSA & CHUCK!

I guess for the most part I just totally wasn't expecting it at all even though I should have been. And since Justine just got engaged on tuesday, I'm feeling a little spun. These are not just people i used to know doing this shit, its my friends and co-workers. Its just wierd to me.

But whatever, like I said, yay melissa. And if anyone sees a book called how to be the best Maid of Honor when your broke ad fuck... buy it for me :)

I had the most amazing day yesterday!! I got to work at 8:15 and then went clamming for something like 4 hours including driving time and stuff. We found 9 different species, and it was just really cool, and I got very very dirty... YAY! Then I came back to the nature center and did some setting up stuff for the bat program we were going to do. Then I got tasty mexican dinner, and then we did bats! WE caught this really cute red bat and got to pet it and band it and stuff, and really it was just great. I wish I could have days like that EVERY DAY!! Yay clams and bats!

After we cleaned stuff up we also just hung out here for a while and everyone else drank beer. We sat on the stage and giggled a lot, and then after angela and people left jason taught me how to drive the mule and I drove him out to the remote sight se he would have time to sober up before driving home. We ended up leaving at like 1 in the morning, but it was good fun, and now I can drive the mule. YAY BREKKE!

Today I have work pretty much all day. Here until 3, and I have a work meeting at Kappa, and then I work at Kappa tonight like always. I'm going to be one tired brekke:)

Do you have a completely irrational fear?:
Not really. I can get kinda freaked out in small spaces where the air is hot and heavy though. This really long enclosed tube slides at the water park, I'd rather not go down them.

What is the little physical habit that gives away your insecure moments?:
Um... I dunno? I prolly talk more than I should

Are you a pyromaniac?:
Nah, but I do like candles lots

Do you have too many love interests?:
Yes! And I don't know what to think about any of them, and I've been trying to be good and mostly failing... BOOO

Do you know anyone famous?:
nope!

Describe your bed:
Currently there is an overflowing laundry basket and a totally destroyed looking suitcase on my unmade bed. But thats only cause I never seem to be in my room long enough to clean it off. In fact, I'm not even in my room as we speak.

Who would play you in a movie?:
I dunno, someone told me that I looked like the girl from six feet under a couple days ago... but I don't even know what she looks like so I couldn't say.

Do you know how to play poker?:
Yeah, but I'm only ok at it.

What do you carry with you at all times?:
um... underwear? and I try to keep my phone with me most of the time, but at work I fail and usually just have me and my clothes.

What do you miss most about being a kid?:
Eh... being a kid I think is what I miss the most. But I like being sorta grown-up too, the only problem is people care more if you screw up when your old, and I've always screwed up a lot.

What is your beloved's name?:
Beloved... hmmm... brandy, my beloved dog, and I'm also quite fond of daisy and sherwin here at the center. A cat and painted turtle respectively.

Do you like their given name?:
Yes, they all have names that fit them well

Are you happy with your given name?
Yes, if I ever get married I may have to keep my name just the way it is... Brekke Janeen Bounds has a ring to it that Brekke Janeen Smith, or Parker, or whatever else doesn't.

How much money would it take to get you to give up the Internet for one year?:
Eh... as much as I could get out of a person, I'm pretty sure anything upwards of a few thousand would be enough, but I would say $50,000 or so and pretend like it was a big hardship to have money instead of friends:)

What color is your bedroom?:
At home its a super pale pink. At school its plain old white.

What was the last song you were listening to?:
Oh lord, I don't know... whatever was on in the background of jason's truck yesterday... country or something.

Have you ever been in love?:
yes

Do you talk a lot?:
I have my moments

Do you like yourself and believe in yourself?:
Most of the time, although I don't always believe that I like myself, if that makes any sense.

Do you consider yourself to be a nice person?:
I think so, but I can be a very hard person to understand and such

Do you spend more time with your girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse or your friends?:
I like friends. If I have a boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse I imagine I would prolly spend more time with them.

What is your ideal marriage location?:
meh... somewhere pretty and not to big

Which musical instrument do you wish you could play?:
I wish I could actually play the keyboard/piano, instead of just messing with what I learned in two years of lessons. I also wish that I remembered how to play the viola

Favorite fabric?:
Soft and flexible:)

Something you love and hate?:
People

What kind of bedding do you use?:
Regular cotton sheets and a fuzzy blanket

What smell do you find sexy?:
Boy smell, and I have to agree with Emily on this one, when I girl smells like a boy it is pretty hot, like when I realize that I smell like boy I want to get all over myself.

What's the one language you want to learn?:
Well I'm taking spanish right now and failing so I guess that should be my answer.

How do you eat an apple? :
any way I can

What do you order at a bar?:
Mostly I order water:) But if I'd drinking usually a rum and coke, or whiskey and coke.

Have you ever pierced your body parts?:
Why yes I have

Do you have tattoos?:
yup I do

Do you drive a stick?:
I wish I did, but poor little Zilpha does it all on her own. My next car will be stick though, I plan on making sure of it:)

What's one trait you hate in a person?:
Um... being a sucky know it all

What kind of watch do you wear?:
No watches for me

Do you consider yourself materialistic?:
Sorta, but not too badly

What do you cook the best? :
Um I make good spaghetti and good stir fry. I'm also working on killer Vegetarian Chili

Favorite writing instrument?:
Um black pens that are flowy?

Do you prefer to stand out or blend in?:
It depends on the situation, but usually I like to be noticed

Would you ever go out dressed like the opposite sex? :
Yes I very much would

What's one car you will never buy?:
Um anything big and ugly, like a hummer

What kind of books do you like to read?:
Anything. Currently I am reading the Secret Lives of Girls... non-fiction fun:)

If you won the lottery, what would you do?:
Um save some and buy crap with the rest. Maybe a pretty house for me and my pets

Burial or cremation?:
I'm undecided on this one, but I think I would prefer cremation even if I will prolly be buried cause thats what the church I go to likes.

If you don't like a person, how do you show it? :
I pretty much like everyone, I'm not kidding here... its hard to offend me enough that I don't like you

Do you cry in front of your friends? :
Yes, but I'd rather be alone, I don't like to let anyone but my family see me cry, and thats cause they've seen it enough so I care less about them seeing.

What kind of first impression do you think you give to people? :
Bubbly and obnoxious

What's one thing you like to do alone?:
Um... I dunno... brood?

Are you a giver or a taker?:
I think both, but I couldn't be sure, you would have to ask someone else to be sure

When's the last time you cried?:
Um... last week maybe?

Favorite communication method?:
I like face to face... then silences are ok.

How many drinks before you're tipsy?:
Eh... I dunno a couple 4 maybe?

Do you think you're cute?:
I sure am real cute

Do you have problems changing clothes in front of friends?:
Nope I get naked in front of everyone, or at least I'll change in front of anyone

Favorite type of music?:
I like medium size doses of everything

What is the sexiest thing the opposite sex can wear that catches your eye?:
um... I dunno something that fits them well... but I'm a sucker for those banana republic dress shirts that look like you've been wearing them casually for days if the guy can pull it off...

Do you like to kiss or hug?:
I like hugs with little kisses

Are you a workaholic?:
nope

What are your kids names?:
bah to kids

Do you watch a lot of television?
I was watching quite a bit a few weeks ago, but I don't think I've watched anything but the news in about a week

Do you like to shop?:
Most of the time, sometimes it can be frustrating though.

What is your hidden talent?:
Um... I don't have anything hidden that I can think about. I like to fully display my talents for all to see.

Would you die to save the life of someone you deeply love?:
It depends on the situation

Do you own or lease your automobile?:
I own it sorta, meaning my dad's name is on the title, but I paid him for it.

Are your friends married or single?:
Single-riffic

How long have you known your best friend?:
WEll I have a couple best friends, and one I've known forever, and the other I've known four years ish?

Is he/she married?:
Nope

Do you own a Bible?:
Yes I do... its teal

What version is it?
Um... teal?

Do you play chess?:
I know the rules but not the strategy

Do you like the rain?:
I love rain... esp since we haven't gotten any here in forever.

Do you like thunderstorms?:
Yes I love them

What's your favorite website?:
Eh... I don't have one

What was your weight when you were born? :
8 pounds 6 ounces

What time were you born?:
Morningish about 6 I would say

What year did you graduate high school?:
2002

What was your first job? :
McDonald's

What is the strangest pet you've ever owned?:
Um I haven't had anything too strange

Do you believe in God?:
Yup
